“TREY: Thanks so much everybody, thank you.”
🎸 The '95 night — and the one that finally played the song this site is named after: The Curtain ... With opened Set 2. Trey spent half the night behind a mini drum kit, and Johnny B. Goode came back after 927 shows.
Phish's 95th performance at Madison Square Garden, and the fourth night of the five-night '92–'96 retrospective. The whole show ran on 1995 references: a setlist drawn from that year's rotation, Trey in a Jah Volunteer shirt, a chess board on stage, and the mini drum kit.
Three bustouts: Ha Ha Ha (231 shows), Drowned (119), and Johnny B. Goode, last played August 8, 1998 — 927 shows ago.
Wilson was preceded by Page's chess move for the band. The P.A. announced checkmate, but Page moved the band's rook to C4 rather than A4, threatening the audience's queen rather than its king.
Teases through the night: Rainy Day Women #12 & 35 in Timber, San-Ho-Zay in Halley's Comet, Tequila and Cissy Strut in Drowned (the whole band), and Johnny B. Goode in Loving Cup.

It’s so stupendous, living in this tube
Bustouts and debuts are Phish.net’s gap on the row. Version rankings and “hot this year” are counted over the shows in THIS archive — not all of history until the backfill finishes — and lengths are phish.in’s timings. Rarities use Phish.net’s all-time play count; long odds are shows played since the song’s debut divided by its plays (see the rarity index on LizardStats).

Straight off the phish.in timings, longest first. What this can’t tell you yet is whether any of these is a big version — that needs each song’s own history to compare against, which is the next thing to pull in. After that: phish.in publishes a jam-start marker per track, so the composed section and the improvisation can be separated and measured properly. That’s what belongs in this tube.
